Activity 8
Taking the Wheel
For much of your life until now, you have been mostly passengers on your own life's journey. Parents, teachers, coaches, Rabbis- they have all had a say in which direction you'll be going and at what speed. Are you ready to start taking the wheel?
As you begin to get a better feel for who you are, what are your strengths, what you want your goals to be, it's time to look up, check the map, consider the routes. You may not yet be ready to ride on your own, but the training wheels are off and you can start to navigate your way through bumpy roads and busy highways.
So let's get started! Explore the different aspects of your life (e.g. parents, siblings, friends, school, community, pets, hobbies). In which direction do you want to start your test drive? How can you make sure that you'll be entrusted with the keys?
-
Define 3 areas of responsibility that you would like to assume. Who is currently responsible for those areas?
-
How can you put yourself in a position to earn that responsibility? How can you demonstrate you're ready to take the steering wheel?
