Activity 11

Interview #2

"Many men go fishing all their lives without knowing that it's not the fish they're after."

Henry David Thoreau

  1. Ask 5 men that you know (over 18) about what you need to know about men:

    • Prepare at least 5 questions

    • Take notes

    • Prepare your own summary and discuss with your parent-mentor

Note: "Coming of Age" marks the line between childhood and young adulthood; it is also the juncture at which the paths of boys and girls (who until this point were relatively similar) diverge into two paths: of men and of women. These slightly different paths will intertwine often further down the road and this is your opportunity to gain insight into the view from the other path. This is a chance to have an open conversation with men who have known you as a girl, and can help you prepare yourself for womanhood by listening to their perspective and observations of the girls-to-women transitions that they have witnessed. We suggest you prepare the questions and the interview carefully.
