Am I rich? Am I poor?

What Money Can Buy

"A bed but not sleep,A computer but not brains.

Food but not appetite, finery but not beauty.

A house but not a home, medecine but not health.

Luxuries but not culture, amusements but not happiness.

Acquaintances but not friends, obedience but not loyalty."

It has been attempted, in many cultures, to define true wealth and put it in perspective.

Read these short 'day in the life' descriptions:

Contemplate the lives of each of these kids and consider:​

  • What do I have plenty of?

  • What am I lacking?

  • What are my privileges?

  • What are my responsibilities?

 

Discuss this with your parent and compare your perspectives. In which ways are they similar/different?
